Poems

The near, the far

From the November 1983 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Distance
is not solid fact.
It won't divide
into its smallest part—
for mortal measurement
is inexact.

It's just a hoax,
a temporary start
toward something we can never
really reach.

All place is in our thought:
We'll ultimately find
the far, the near,
the not-so-far—
the light-years' distance
to the farthest star—
are all in Mind

and therefore
reachable right now
and where we are.
