"What shall I render unto the Lord for all his benefits toward me? I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the Lord" (Ps. 116:12, 13). I, too, am striving to "take the cup of salvation," and gratitude is an important element of accepting this cup. Among the many blessings I have received in Christian Science is a life redeemed—filled with good, made vibrant with joy, and readied for service.
As a young adult, I was a member of another Christian denomination. Yet eventually I concluded that I could no longer believe in a God whose will included the evil I sometimes experienced. I had been worshiping a God I really didn't know or understand. So I dropped out of religion entirely for a few years. I traded the pursuit of holiness for the pursuit of self.
Then, about seven years ago, I met a Christian Scientist who gently introduced me to his religion. I resisted this teaching at first, but I did enjoy reading the testimonies of healing in the Christian Science periodicals. I also became intrigued by the possibilities in our age for Christian healing, possibilities that added a whole new dimension to what I had previously known of Christianity. Meanwhile, my friend and I were married, and I continued my investigation of Christian Science.
