It has been my intention for a long time...

From the February 1984 issue of The Christian Science Journal

It has been my intention for a long time to submit a written testimony. Heretofore, it was my practice to tell of my gratitude at Wednesday testimony meetings. However, a recent move has placed me in a country where, as yet, there are no branch Churches of Christ, Scientist. So I've decided it's time to put my gratitude in writing.

From the beginning of the grand adventure this move has become, I knew I would be depending on God more than ever. Though far away from family, friends, and Christian Science practitioners, and with mail delivery slow and telephone communication unpredictable, I've often recalled the quick reply of a friend when, some years ago, I moved from California to another state. To my complaint that I felt so isolated because the majority of people in that state embraced just one other denomination, she quickly replied, "There's just as much love here as there is in California."

I found that to be the case there, and I'm also finding it to be true in this extraordinary country on the African continent. By trying consistently to keep my thoughts with God, I'm learning that the purification of thought brings harmony to every aspect of our lives, as Mrs. Eddy makes very clear (see Miscellaneous Writings 204:12-25).
