Our vital religion

From the February 1984 issue of The Christian Science Journal

When Jesus was arrested in the Garden of Gethsemane, his fearful disciples "forsook him, and fled." Later, Peter, recognized as a disciple, denied his acquaintance with Jesus: "I know not this man of whom ye speak."Mark 14:50, 71. The next day, according to the Fourth Gospel, there were only a few women who stood by Jesus' cross, and one disciple, John. Mrs. Eddy writes: "There adhered to him only a few unpretentious friends, whose religion was something more than a name. It was so vital, that it enabled them to understand the Nazarene and to share the glory of eternal life."Science and Health, p. 54.

As a Christian Scientist, have you ever asked yourself:

Is my religion more to me than a name?
