Poems

Changeless being

From the April 1984 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Like one who journeys far, so you
have gone, not to return to rend
the veil that seems to separate
the two of us. Grieving thoughts
tempt my joy
with loss and loneliness.
They say that death has had its sting
and grave its victory.

God gives to you eternal life
the same today as yesterday.
His tender care enfolds you still
to keep you safe within His love.
While now our paths seem far apart,
our prayerful work remains unchanged—
we must exemplify the Christ
and prove our love for God and man.
