My gratitude for Christian Science is overflowing, because if it had not been for this wonderful truth, I would probably not be here today.
I became interested in Christian Science while in my mid-teens—not for healing, but mostly out of curiosity. I had worked for two families of Christian Scientists who were so loving and joyful that I decided to investigate their religion for myself.
I will never forget the first time I attended a Sunday service at a branch Church of Christ, Scientist. I did not comprehend much of what I heard, but I did feel the joy and affection that permeated it. Also, I was most impressed with the biblical inscription above the platform, which read, "GOD IS LOVE" (see I John 4:8). I noticed that it did not say "GOD IS LOVING," but "GOD IS LOVE"—Love itself. After my second visit I enrolled in the Sunday School there and was able to attend four years, until I was twenty.
