The following letter to the Editors of the periodicals is from a Christian Science practitioner listed in the Journal.
This is a long overdue thank-you—for all you are doing for our Cause—but especially for the "Bible Notes" published in the Christian Science Sentinel at the close of each month. I am concluding the second year of a three-year term as First Reader for our branch church and have found the "Bible Notes" an invaluable aid. Moreover, insights gained from them have helped on many occasions in the practice.
Here's one instance. This past summer [1983] I was called by a senior practitioner (listed for over 35 years in the Journal) who was struggling with several severe physical claims as well as a great personal disappointment. She really seemed on the verge of succumbing. The "Bible Notes" for the September Lesson-Sermon on "Man" contained many helpful ideas—in fact, the entire lesson was most strong and uplifting.
