Have you ever realized that we tend to think in images? If we look closely at our thought processes, we find that much of our thinking consists of mental pictures of people, places, and things.
Often the images memory calls forth give us pleasure. But frequently they cause suffering. Fear, grief, or guilt may summon up painful images that are replayed in our mind in full sound and color. But we can stop these reruns, eliminate the distress they cause, and erase them from thought permanently.
The Apostle Paul explains how we can attain this mental peace: "Whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things." Phil. 4:8.
