The words "duality" and "dualism" differ distinctly in their meanings. In the statement of Christian Science, this difference is chasmal.
Dualism, as a philosophical term, "recognizes two radically independent elements, as mind and matter, underlying all known phenomena." As a religious term, it means "the recognition of two radically different principles in operation, one good, the other bad; . . . the doctrine that man has two natures, physical and spiritual."Webster's New Twentieth Century Dictionary of the English Language, Unabridged, 2nd ed. (Cleveland, Ohio: Collins World, 1978).
This is about as clear a statement as one can frame to declare the absolute antipode of the teachings of Christian Science!
