Those wonderful words "I've had a healing," which are so familiar to Christian Scientists, need to be scientifically understood by those healed if they would gain even greater freedom.
Thoughts like "It went away" or "It stopped hurting" or "It's not red anymore" may indicate that one thinks the discord which has been healed in Christian Science was once a reality. But to focus on the absolute, scientific certainty that the discord had no reality in the first place shows that one is seeing God's allness a little more clearly. In Science and Health Mrs. Eddy tells us, "The relations of God and man, divine Principle and idea, are indestructible in Science; and Science knows no lapse from nor return to harmony, but holds the divine order or spiritual law, in which God and all that He creates are perfect and eternal, to have remained unchanged in its eternal history."Science and Health, pp. 470-471.
So we can perceive that nothing discordant has really happened, that God has not created man material and imperfect, has not changed His relationship to man nor abandoned His child, but continuously cares for him with a love that is immeasurable. Then we will know that everything remains as God has created it—spiritual, perfect, and eternal— despite what appears real to the material senses. We are never forsaken but ever blessed with His unchanging goodness.
