Although I had heard of Christian Science when I was a child living in Connecticut, I had learned little or nothing about it. My real introduction to this teaching came through my wife. Subsequently I was healed.
I had had a painful and sore back condition that had been a recurring thing for many years. Finally my back became especially painful, and I decided to take some action. I called a hospital and inquired when I could come in and be examined. When my wife, who had studied Christian Science, learned about this, she told me there was another way. Then she related to me a healing she had had in Christian Science when she was a child. She also told me about Christian Science practitioners. We talked the situation over and decided to call a practitioner that evening. (I was scheduled to go to the hospital the next day.) We made the call, and I related the difficulty to the practitioner, who said he would be glad to help me through prayer. In the morning there was improvement to the extent that I gave up all thought of going to the hospital. Soon there was no more pain. I was fully healed, and the problem has not recurred.
I am grateful for this healing, which took place about four years ago. Since that time I have read through Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy a number of times. Both my wife and I have had Christian Science class instruction and have become active church members.
