Mind, God, knows only perfection. If only we always expressed that perfection in our churches, what healing we would do!
But what if we make mistakes? Why, we can express mercy both to ourselves and to one another—until evidence of Mind's perfection is gained.
And yet there are those among us about whom it's sometimes said, "He doesn't suffer fools gladly.'" II Cor. 11:19. Such self-righteousness or intellectual scorn hinders both individuals and our Church. It accepts errors instead of spiritual perfection as reality. It ignores the Psalmist's advice "Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace." Ps. 37:37. But mercy can help to heal even this hardness of heart.
