For years I have read, appreciated, and been uplifted by the testimonies published in the periodicals. It is time for me to share some of the healings I have had through Christian Science.
My first healing was of spinal meningitis. I was told by my parents that when I was three years old, I became ill. My grandfather, who was a general practitioner of medicine, examined me and then suggested that another doctor be called in to confirm his diagnosis of spinal meningitis. My mother, who was a student of Christian Science, immediately called a Christian Science practitioner to pray for me. But my father was very fearful and insisted that a doctor treat me. My mother informed the practitioner of this, and she agreed to pray for me until the doctor arrived at our home. By the time the doctor did arrive, the fever had lowered and I was moving normally. Upon examining me, the doctor said that he didn't know why he had been called because he said he could find nothing wrong with me.
My grandfather was so impressed with this healing that later on, when I had symptoms of tonsillitis and our family doctor urged my parents to consent to my having a tonsillectomy, my grandfather suggested my mother pray for me in Christian Science. She did, and again I was healed through prayer alone.
