There is no unrequited love

From the July 1985 issue of The Christian Science Journal

A young man fell in love,
But he was only dreaming.
And, in his dream, love unreturned
Produced a deeper dreaming:

An old man all alone,
In solitary sadness,
Dreamed no one there to fill his hunger
With the wheat of gladness.

Then Christ, the light of Life,
Let shine a new man, waking—
Who, satisfied, now realized
Full giving is full taking.

And this he came to learn
When dreaming ran for cover:
There is no unrequited love;
All love rewards the lover.
