Poems

Love

From the February 1986 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Dear God, I've grown to love You more each passing day,
To trust in Your eternal, loving care.
To know Your bounty, goodness, and Your grace.
Yet I am haunted by this starving face,
This tiny shadow of a noble race.

Let every human heart respond
With love, reflected from its source divine
To reach across this desert land
And break all barriers of race, creed, time,
And make this wilderness cry out
And blossom into life,
To end this agony and strife.

Not one of us should turn away and say,
"There's nothing we can do."
We can pray each passing day
With hearts and minds as one,
And prove with demonstration
That this battle can be won!
