Watchful in our love for humanity

From the February 1986 issue of The Christian Science Journal

In the fast pace of our present world many of us have a tendency to glide lightly over the surface of daily happenings—at times almost unaware of our fellowman. Yet in all walks of life there are those inwardly yearning for a better sense of well-being, security, and purpose. Do we let opportunities slip by us—opportunities to help others find the pathway to God's kingdom here on earth? There need not be personal tragedy to force individuals to seek the lifesaving facts of spiritual being.

Christ Jesus, watchful in his love for humanity, was not content to be a silent example but consistently and compassionately helped those that were receptive along the way. The Way-shower counteracted the moral confusion of the material world by healing, teaching, and even feeding the multitudes. By his healing work and authoritative word, the Master shook men loose from the deceptiveness of mortal thinking. Thus freed from their burdens of sorrow and sin, they were able to see more clearly the pathway heavenward.

How can we find similar means to reach the receptive person today? As with any other question, we are led to our answer through prayer. Mrs. Eddy writes, "Working and praying with true motives, your Father will open the way."Science and Health, p. 326 .
