Inviting a Field Assistant to visit your branch or group can offer fresh impetus to the desire to progress as a membership. These workshops, conducted by Journal-listed practitioners, are available worldwide, in many languages. All workshops are designed to explore more fully the meaning of Church. At the request of the branch or group, attention may be focused on Sunday School or Reading Room. One branch writes:
"Together we looked at the activities of church in light of the Manual of The Mother Church by Mary Baker Eddy and discussed the importance of getting back to basics—to our Leader's plan. We investigated the strength of our wonderful 'pastor' in the weekly Bible Lessons from the Bible and Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. There was a sincere desire to see Christian Science fulfill its healing mission in individual lives, in the community, and in the world."
A Sunday School pupil from the branch gave a testimony at a subsequent Wednesday evening meeting. Along with the honest efforts and prayers of many others in the community, he had made a contribution to the solution of a local problem. The church writes: "There was a three week-long teachers' strike in our community. By the second week, little progress had been made. This young man and his older brother felt this wasn't right and knew there was something they could do about it. They looked up related citations in Science and Health, using the Concordance, and studied them. By the end of the week the strike was settled. All would graduate on schedule. Our church was grateful for this timely reminder of the part that prayer has in the resolution of community problems."
