Unexpected crosses, everyday crowns

From the April 1986 issue of The Christian Science Journal

A little lower than the angels, crowned with glory and honor,
See Ps. 8:5 .the Psalmist says of man. Made in God's image and given dominion.
See Gen. 1:26 . Upheld by the right hand of His righteousness.
See Isa. 41:10 .

Children of light, and the children of the day,
See I Thess. 5:5 . says the New Testament of those who have recognized their relation to God through Christ. The sons of God.
See I John. 3:1 .

From the vantage point of divine Science's revelation of life and being as spiritual, we realize that this language of Scripture is reaching out toward a description of spiritual man. New Testament writers in particular are seeking words to express something remarkable they have seen: there is a new man, a man born of divine Spirit!
