Poems

Out of the land of bondage

From the April 1986 issue of The Christian Science Journal

"And God said unto Moses,
I AM THAT I AM . . ."

and Moses' sight of unseen God
stood mirrored where he stood: his holy ground
reflecting Principle—to clarify
(to quench his fear-fire)

"I AM THAT I AM . . ."

and prophets, hearing unheard God
spoke boldly when He spoke: their eloquence
reechoed Love and Truth—to liberate
(to break the slave-dreams)

"I AM THAT I AM . . ."

so we, now feeling unfelt God
can touch authentic man: our certainty
immortal living is—to vivify
(to slay the death-lie)
