Stay with it!

From the April 1986 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The lesson of the resurrection has a message for everyone, but especially for anyone who is endeavoring to follow Christ Jesus. It speaks of the ever-present Christ, Truth, enabling us to stay with the God-given tasks we are to accomplish. Our work is not of the magnitude of the Master's; still, whatever we are doing that demonstrates Christ-healing and brings more of God's allness to light is tremendously important to mankind. And the Christ enables us to fulfill our tasks. Jesus spoke of the ever-present Christ when he said to his disciples just before his ascension, "Lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world."Matt. 28:20 .

Everyone has the privilege of working out his own salvation by rising above the belief that life inheres in matter and proving that man lives solely in Spirit as Spirit's immortal idea. And this great work is not beyond our capabilities. Christ reassures us that we already are—and always have been—in truth God's spiritual man, the expression of His divine goodness and perfection. God's requirement is that we be what we already are.

It is the day-by-day demonstration of our own true nature as divine Principle's expression that brings more of our native selfhood in Christ to light. Each moment of spiritual growth, each physical healing we have through reliance upon God alone, should encourage us to press on. Spiritual healing shows that our thought is ascending, rising above the false belief that life is composed of and tied to matter.
