Church Bulletin Board

From the October 1988 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Whether at a shopping mall, on a college campus, or in the foyer of a church, a bulletin board is a great place for people to share information. You can learn a lot about an active community from reading local bulletin boards. We hope you'll enjoy this bulletin board and feel encouraged to join in and share experiences.

A young man came into our Reading Room and wanted a book which he had heard of. ... While I looked for the book he wanted, he told me that our church had discriminated against him because of his race.

After I found the book he wanted, I asked him to sit down and talk awhile. I wanted to find out how we had discriminated against him. ... I learned that after one of our services he had told someone that he wanted to join the church. And one of the things he was told was that there was a normal period that would have to pass before a membership application could be acted upon.
