Enter in!

From the October 1988 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Father, I'm ready to enter my closet,
closing the door on things unlike prayer.
This closet is consciousness, God-blessed and pure,
wholly untroubled by cluttersome care.

True prayer enters in to a place that God knows;
fully exempt from mortality's woes,
totally free to be happy, at peace
in a closet of Love where self-centered thoughts cease.

It's not only thought, though, that must enter in
to that spiritual haven so free from all sin.
The way that I live must be wholesome and right,
rebuking the dark with immovable light.

Holiness, purity, God's loving voice,
are filling my closet. So I've made my choice
to stay wide awake in this thinking of mine—
to seek honest prayer in the closet divine!
