What are the elements of good government?

From the November 1988 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The study and practice of Christian Science help us to understand the elements of good government. How important it is that we pray effectively to support a righteous government, especially, perhaps, at a time of major election.

The world over, there are certainly many differing political viewpoints and forms of government. The truth of being, however, as explained in Christian Science, is universal and blesses one and all. It helps us to be alert to recognize, to establish, and to maintain spiritual values in government—values that support justice and protect God-given rights of individual freedom.

We learn in Christian Science that God creates and governs His ideas, all true individuality, simultaneously. True individuality images forth the nature of God, divine Mind, in the spiritual qualities of being. To bear witness to God's government is to identify and express such spiritual qualities of God as wholeness, completeness, integrity, love, usefulness.
