While I was in my late teens, I was involved with what are today referred to as "recreational drugs." One evening I found myself suffering the effects of LSD—hallucinations and all. This occurred even though I had not taken that particular drug in weeks.
Immediately I knew what I needed to do. I'd been raised in a family that practiced Christian Science regularly. Even though I'd refused to rely on Science myself for some years, I knew without doubt that it could heal me.
Many statements from the writings of Mary Baker Eddy brought encouragement in the face of great fear. On page 469 of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures she writes: "Mind is God. The exterminator of error is the great truth that God, good, is the only Mind, and that the supposititious opposite of infinite Mind—called devil or evil—is not Mind, is not Truth, but error, without intelligence or reality."
