I will never forget the wonderful feeling of stability that came into my life when my mother made the decision to return to a branch Church of Christ, Scientist. The church members welcomed my brother and sister and me with open arms, and we felt their love. We were enrolled in the Sunday School. For me attending the Sunday School was a loving and a stabilizing experience.
Mom told me later that she had been raised in a family where Christian Science was faithfully practiced and that she had joined The Mother Church while she was living at home, though she had not attended church or followed the teachings of Science after she married my dad.
It was shortly after she resumed her study of Science that we moved to a different city. At that time I became very ill. Though a Christian Science practitioner had been asked to pray for me, the symptoms were alarming to my dad and he requested that a doctor be called in to examine me.
