On sharing Christian Science with others (part two)

From the June 1988 issue of The Christian Science Journal

It's only natural to want to share something that has blessed us as Christian Science has. Yet this sharing can 't be forced. There are times when one feels an awkward distance or mounting resistance—an almost tangible barrier that seems to keep what we've come to love in Christian Science from being seen or felt by others. Most of us have also had experiences in which we've felt divine Love tangibly dissolving the barriers.

That's what "The story of the moat" is all about. Admittedly, it doesn't quite read like Aesop or Grimm or Hans Christian Andersen! But like many fables and fairy tales, it's a lighthearted story with a serious side. This particular fable isn't new; it has actually been around for a couple of decades. The message, though, doesn't seem to age. And oh, yes, one other thing—like most fables and fairy tales, it's meant to be read only by those who are becoming "as a little child" (see Mark 10:15).

Once upon a time there was a kingdom. In this kingdom was a moat inhabited by a fierce alligator with sharp white teeth.
