Shortly after the turn of the century, my mother and her parents were introduced to Christian Science. They joyfully embraced this teaching. Mother was a fragile, sickly child who was not expected to reach adulthood. After her family found Science, she became vigorous and healthy; she lived into her ninetieth year. For forty of those years she was a Christian Science practitioner, joyously sharing her understanding of this healing Science with many others. My dad also became a student of Science after witnessing my quick response as a baby to the healing power of Truth.
I cannot express enough gratitude for growing up in a home where Christian Science was lived and practiced. The loving care and quick healings I received when illness or accidents occurred gave me confidence in God's love for all. My gratitude for the help I derived from Science during the years my children were growing up is also boundless. The assurance that wherever they were, God's loving care surrounded them was a priceless comfort. I was able to free them to have many interesting and rewarding experiences outside the family circle. I am grateful, too, for a dear husband who was a devoted Christian Scientist.
In addition to physical healings, there have been problems of supply, employment, home, and relationships beautifully solved through this Science. Among my greatest blessings have been membership in The Mother Church and several branch churches at different times. I would like to relate two experiences where my active membership in a branch church proved especially meaningful.
