How Truth changes our lives for the better

From the July 1988 issue of The Christian Science Journal

If it was really understood that Christian Science is reinstating "primitive Christianity and its lost element of healing," as Mrs. Eddy puts it (see Manual of The Mother Church 17:8-13), more spiritually receptive individuals would be blessed by the teachings of this demonstrable Science.

How—on what basis—is this restoration of primitive Christian healing occurring among us? Christian Science reveals that God is wholly good, that not a vestige of evil exists in Him. Since God is divine Love, He does not afflict His children with sickness, tragedy, injustice, or any other untoward circumstance. God's likeness, man—our true identity—reflects God's spiritual nature in all its splendor.

Man expresses all of God's spiritual qualities and attributes, such as love, uprightness, completeness, fulfillment, purity, true purpose. Such spiritual qualities are not products of an illusive and hopeless yearning, dependent upon human relationships or circumstances for their existence. They are attributes of God, inseparable from His very nature and therefore inseparable from His likeness.
