Don't be discouraged

From the July 1988 issue of The Christian Science Journal

When does truth cease to be true? The answer, of course, is never! Truth is always true. That is why, when the truth revealed in Christian Science is properly applied, it cannot fail to prove true. It doesn't matter how long illness, sin, lack, a feeling of inadequacy, or any other evil or error may persist; the spiritual truth is that because God created man perfect, man will remain perfect.

Truth is inviolate. The Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, puts it this way: "The truth of being is perennial, and the error is unreal and obsolete."Science and Health, p. 265. This fact can be enormously encouraging to anyone who feels he has failed to demonstrate the divine harmony after struggling for a long period. Sometimes error may seem tenacious, but sooner or later it must give way to truth.

The school pupil tackling a difficult problem in arithmetic can be certain that there is a right solution even if he doesn't succeed in finding it immediately or even after a long time. The answer is there. The problem may have to be worked at diligently; but with perseverance and dedication the answer will, must, come to light. How much more is this true of the healing effects of truth, which comes from Truth, God!
