Testimonies of Healing

In Science and Health Mrs. Eddy counsels...

From the February 1989 issue of The Christian Science Journal

In Science and Health Mrs. Eddy counsels (p. 424), "Accidents are unknown to God, or immortal Mind, and we must leave the mortal basis of belief and unite with the one Mind, in order to change the notion of chance to the proper sense of God's unerring direction and thus bring out harmony."

For over a year my prayers have regularly included a denial of chance as an element in my experience, and an affirmation of the power and control of infinite God as the only Mind there is. The blessings of this consistent prayer have been felt by both my family and me.

To support this I'd like to share a recent experience. While we were on a holiday in another country, my companions (who are not Christian Scientists) and I were traveling to a special place on the coast. Our objective was to view the emergence of penguins from the sea at twilight. While driving for miles across the surrounding flat pasturelands, we had watched a dramatic electrical storm out over the water, headed in our direction. Black and purple clouds moved across the sky, lighted with occasional streaks of vivid lightning. As the day grew darker, the lightning grew brighter and more frequent.
