The Church of Christ, Scientist, has been my church home all my life. My mother was introduced to Christian Science by a friend when a postpartum infection threatened her life and her case was given up by physicians. She was healed and remained a faithful student of this Science. A further proof to her of the power of God came later, at my birth, during a time when medical diagnosis predicted she was facing great risk. However, her months of pregnancy and my birth were, she always told me, the most glorious she had ever had, hence my given name.
I recall my childhood as being free from diseases often associated with children, and injuries were always healed through prayer. Nevertheless, although I attended Sunday School in a branch church until age twenty, and attended branch church services from time to time after that, it was not until the birth of our first child was imminent that I began regular study of the Bible and of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. The birth of our first son took place quickly and easily and will always be a treasured memory.
Succeeding years brought further evidence of God's loving care as my husband and I found financial provision for buying a home, then selling and buying two more times, even when our income seemed to be severely limited. Whenever special needs came up, we were always supplied with the necessary funds, and I know it was because I was trusting God's love to provide for us.
