Annual Meeting of The Mother Church 1989

From the September 1989 issue of The Christian Science Journal

When the cornerstone of the Original Mother Church was laid in May 1894, Mary Baker Eddy expressed this wish for her students and followers: "To-day, be this hope in each of our hearts,—precious in God's sight as shall be the assembling of His people in this temple, sweet as the rest that remaineth for the righteous, and fresh as a summer morn,—that, from earth's pillows of stone, our visible lives are rising to God. As in the history of a seed, so may our earthly sowing bear fruit that exudes the inspiration of the wine poured into the cup of Christ." Miscellaneous Writings, p. 144

The generous sowing of the seeds of truth through the wide activities of The Mother Church is yielding the fruit of inspiration, regeneration, and healing for many people around the world. And this year's Annual Meeting reported both the challenges and the ongoing progress of the Christian Science movement as its healing mission goes forward to help meet the urgent needs of humanity.

To explore these activities in more depth, a number of the Annual Meeting reports of officers and managers at The Mother Church and its activities took the form of a discussion with the new President of the Church. An abbreviated text of the meeting follows.
