CHRISTIAN SCIENCE READING ROOMS

From the November 1990 issue of The Christian Science Journal

You never know who will be coming in the door of a Christian Science Reading Room. At that moment it may be someone who works nearby and who has passed by hundreds of times before, a traveler far from home, a fellow church member, or simply someone who is searching for meaningful answers. Regardless of background, what these visitors have in common is that they are real people dealing with real, live issues and concerns.

You can see what we mean by this brief list of visitors who recently stepped inside one Reading Room in the midwestern United States:

A fellow who has manned a suicide hot line for years came in because he felt he needed more help himself in order to help others. He spoke with the librarian about Christian Science and purchased a Christian Science Sentinel with an article on teenage suicide.
