This year's Annual Meeting underscored The Mother Church's deep commitment to responding to the world's needs, and it shared the progress which has been made in fulfilling that commitment. The meeting pointed to our Church's vital role at a time when the need for reliable and safe health care has never been more apparent. It brought out how important it is for us all to think of ourselves as Christian healers. As a statement from The Christian Science Board of Directors reminded us, "We have learned through our own lives what the Comforter, Divine Science, can contribute to the health and wellness of the world's men, women, and children. And, there is work for each of us as Christian Science healers helping in humanity's quest for health."
There were reports of substantial progress this year in the expanding work of our Church's publishing activity, which is now reaching millions around the globe. Among the highlights—The Monitor Channel was successfully launched on May 1.
A clear message of Annual Meeting 1991 was that in order to answer humanity's yearning for health and spirituality, we all need to commit ourselves more deeply to the work of spiritual healing.
