We've heard a lot recently about something called the "new world order." Political leaders have used the term frequently in trying to depict what appears to be the ultimate answer in bringing a sense of order and peace to the world. Perhaps their theory is that economic and political stability will make for a more harmonious world.
But true peace and harmony come from within. They cannot be imposed externally. Large, powerful countries cannot always guarantee that imposition of socioeconomic structures on smaller, less powerful countries will bring about peace. In fact, the imposition of such structures might add fuel to the fire in trouble spots around the world, many of which are already ablaze with citizen discontent.
Mary Baker Eddy writes in the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health, "Let Truth uncover and destroy error in God's own way, and let human justice pattern the divine." Perhaps it's that idea of letting "human justice pattern the divine," reflected to a larger degree—both individually and collectively—that's needed to bring about a truer sense of God's government.
