"Neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling"

From the October 1992 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Confronted as we are today by tremendous concern about deadly microorganisms and viruses and the formidable array of illnesses and epidemics attributed to them, we might ask where we can turn for help in truly exterminating such pestilential elements. Can mankind ever be free from them?

Christian Science, with its roots in the Bible, gives us an answer. It encourages us to follow the example of Christ Jesus, who counseled, "Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils."  Matt. 10.8.

The ninety-first Psalm points clearly to God's protective power. It promises: "He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. ... Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. ... There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling."  Ps. 91:1, 3, 10.
