Since my last published testimony of healing through Christian Science, I have experienced quick healings of colds, upset stomach, and several sports injuries.
Over two years ago I had a healing that brought me increased spiritual understanding. For several months I experienced pain, tingling, and numbness in one leg, apparently caused by poor circulation. At times the condition improved through Christian Science treatment. To increase my understanding of what it really means to be the image and likeness of God, I reread Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy from the beginning. This helped me to "Keep in mind the verity of being,—that man is the image and likeness of God, in whom all being is painless and permanent" (Science and Health).
Then an excruciating pain developed along my leg. I could neither sit nor lie down comfortably. I continued to pray about this and based my prayer on the omnipotence of God, Spirit, and the consequent realization that the body has no power of its own to report how it feels; as explained in Christian Science, only the mortal mind can do this, and God, the divine Mind, overrules mortal mind. I found I could reject thoughts of pain and disease with God-given authority.
