news from Regional Youth Meetings

From the March 1992 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Christian Science is absolutely relevant in the 90s! You'd be even surer of that fact if you'd attended one of the Regional Youth Meetings that have been going on around the world recently. Hundreds of examples—illustrating the very real ways spirituality relates to their lives—have been shared by young people and adults. The whole idea behind these Youth Meetings is to provide that kind of opportunity—through talks, workshops, and a warm, informal atmosphere. Spiritual values and action based on these values are upfront and central in areas that concern everyone the most: for example, relationships, academics, drugs, sex, family, church, career, global issues, the environment. The message, not one of preaching but of shared experience, is that Christian Science offers answers and healing, and no one is left out.

Have these meetings been a success? Well, maybe the best way to determine that is to let some of the young people who've attended meetings in 1991 give their own firsthand impressions. This is just a small sampling of their comments. But from the spirit of their remarks it's clear that finding something more of what it means to be God's spiritual child can make a very big difference. It can change someone's life!

"It was terrific to know how important Christian Science is to many younger people. And it was great to discover how the people I met were using Science in their lives. This is something that is encouraging."
