Christian Science has been in our family since the early 1900s. What a wonderful privilege it has been for me to have these teachings all my life.
My maternal grandmother had a physical problem that the doctors could not diagnose or cure. My grandfather wanted so much for her to be well that while on the job one day, he poured out his concerns to a fellow worker. The man suggested that he try Christian Science. My grandparents got in touch with a Christian Science practitioner, and when they explained their plight, she readily agreed to pray. Later that same day my grandmother, who had been unable to eat anything substantial for a long time, ate a normal meal. That day marked the healing.
After that my grandmother shared Christian Science with many people, and both of my grandparents became dedicated church workers. They also enrolled their two daughters, one of whom was my mother, in a Christian Science Sunday School. From that beginning, Science has remained the way of life in our family for several generations, and I will be forever grateful for my parents, who lived so well what they were taught.
