New appointments

From the November 1993 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The Trustees of The Christian Science Publishing Society are pleased to let you know of their election of Honor Ramsay Hill, C.S., of Vancouver, British Columbia, to serve as a member of the Board of Trustees. Mrs. Hill takes the place of J. Anthony Periton, C.S.B., who has resigned to accept the appointment by The Christian Science Board of Directors as District Manager of Committees on Publication for Great Britain and Ireland.

Mrs. Hill has been Committee on Publication for British Columbia for the past six years, and has advertised in The Christian Science Journal as a Christian Science practitioner since 1986. In her Committee capacity she had the unusual opportunity to serve on a senior provincial government/community group to shape policies and legislation on the rights of health self-determination for adults. Mrs. Hill will join Hallock G. Davis and Harry C. Schiering on the Board of Trustees. Mr. Davis has been elected to serve as Chairman.

In leaving the Board of Trustees, Mr. Periton completes his second term of service as a Trustee. As many of you know he has also served as Manager of the Publishing Society in Boston, and as Bureau Chief and Manager of the Publishing Society's offices in London. We are very grateful to Mr. Periton for his unselfed willingness to serve in this new role with the Committee on Publication. Mr. Periton joins M. Victor Westberg, Manager, and David K. Nartonis, Assistant Manager, as one of the three Board-appointed Committee on Publication offices provided for in the Manual of The Mother Church by Mary Baker Eddy. We are also grateful for the six years of thoughtful service by Graham Phaup as District Manager. In addition to effective communication about Christian Science with publishers and authors, Mr. Phaup has represented The Mother Church in ecumenical affairs. Recently he has also represented the Church of Christ, Scientist, to the European Community in Brussels.
