Knowing our true worth frees us from immorality

From the December 1993 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Many of us are looking for a true sense of worth. How can it be found? The Bible teaches that worth has its source in our relationship to God as His offspring. The Psalmist spoke of God's creation of man this way: "Thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour."  Ps. 8:5.

Our real being expresses the perfection of the divine nature. As the Scriptures say, God saw all that He made as "very good." Our creator, then, is pleased with us. He loves us for the Godlike qualities we express that are our heritage from Him.

More than we realize, most of us are thoughtful, unselfish, caring, honest. These are evidences that we are living in harmony with God, according to divine Principle. These show that the integrity—or wholeness—of God is being reflected in the integrity of man. Exhibiting these qualities should make us feel worthy, for they indicate we are living in line with divine law, as Christ Jesus taught. It is not egotistical for us to recognize in ourselves these Christly qualities, for they reflect God, Principle.
