Thank you . . .for responding to the "Conversations with Readers" series. We've received quite a batch of letters—powerful evidence of how serving others in this way benefits congregations, communities, and those who serve. Here are some excerpts.
Early in my term as Second Reader ... I kept getting suggestions from church members that I needed to "project more" and use a stronger voice. People kept saying that I should read as though I were reading to the back wall. Even with an excellent sound system, though, this complaint did not go away.
Then one Sunday the Bible Lesson included the Lord's Prayer and Christ Jesus' admonition that we enter into our "closet" when we pray. Our soloist had chosen a setting of the Lord's Prayer, and as I listened it dawned on me that all true communication takes place within the sanctuary of heartfelt communion with God. God, Mind, causes Himself to be heard by His own creation. Because all creation, including everyone in church ... in our community, exists within God's allness, none could be outside the range of God's Word .... There was no one who couldn't hear the truths being read!
