During the next several months, readers of The Christian Science Journal, Christian Science Sentinel, The Herald of Christian Science, and citation formats of the Christian Science Quarterly will notice a modest change to the back cover of the periodicals. Each will carry the postal information required for mailing in the United States.
For several years, label carriers have been inserted inside the plastic mailing bag (called a polybag). Through working with the U.S. Postal Service, we have been able to eliminate label carriers for our U.S. subscribers, thus reducing paper use and expense. We will, instead, print the necessary postal information directly on the back cover of the periodicals and place the labels on the outside of the polybags. This saves the expense of the label carrier while maintaining the advantage of the polybag as a protective covering. Label carriers will continue to be used for subscriptions mailed outside of the United States, as is required by postal regulations.
In addition to this change, we continue to explore possibilities for mailing without a wrapper, as most other magazines are mailed.
