Inside, or outside?

From the August 1994 issue of The Christian Science Journal

We must be
"a doorkeeper in the house of [our] God... Ps. 84: 10.
"Stand porter at the door of thought." Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy, p. 392.

But, standing where?
Inside, or out?
In peace, or in conflict?
In Science, or in suffering?

Outside: enduring the buffetings of mortal sense;
being pelted constantly with the suggestions of
a self-hood, existence, and mind apart or disconnected from
our omnipresent and omnipotent God, good.

Better to stay out of the storm of mortal thought.

Inside: in the sanctuary of His ever-presence and power;
clad with "the panoply of Love"; Ibid., p. 571. protected;
and safe from all the vagaries of mortal existence.

Inside, we can refuse to open the door to
the demons of the darkened thought.
In quietness and confidence we can admit the celestial visitants
—God's angel thoughts—
and deny entry to all else.

Inside, we are ever at one with our Father-Mother, God;
but, we do not withdraw from the world, physically or mentally.

Inside, we do have absolute control of our thinking.
Therefore, at our post in consciousness,
we must ever be on guard—alert.

Watch and pray.

This heals. This is the way.
