A beloved psalm says: "How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! . . . If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee" (Ps. 139:17, 18). This illustrates the blessings God has brought to me and to so many other people who have studied and followed the truths of Christian Science. I have had many healings that proved that Christian Science heals.
When my husband passed on after fifty years of marriage, I needed to find the way out of grief, loneliness, and such thoughts as "Why can't I just slip my moorings and join him?" When this temptation was coming to me, I would immediately turn to my Father-Mother God. Other heartbreaking thoughts would try to overcome me, but I was determined not to give up, but to persevere and find the way out of grief.
I realized I had found the answer after studying the Bible verse "... choose you this day whom ye will serve" Josh. 24:15). Of this decision, Mary Baker Eddy wrote in The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany: "A Christian Scientist verifies his calling. Choose ye!" (p. 3).
