Throughout his marvelous healing ministry, Christ Jesus was ever conscious of the fact that it was God, his Father-Mother Mind, who healed. He said, "The Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works." And, to all humanity in every period he promised that he that "believeth on me," would do the healing works he did. John 14:10, 12. So it is natural and normal for you and me to heal through prayer—and we can—if we "let this mind be in [us], which was also in Christ Jesus." Phil. 2:5.
Mary Baker Eddy writes of Jesus in Science and Health, "He knew of but one Mind and laid no claim to any other." Science and Health, p. 315. When tempted to believe in a mind or authority apart from God, Jesus responded, "Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve." Matt. 4:10. This removed any possibility for the belief in evil to gain a foothold in his thinking, and empowered him to nullify evil's claims to be able to do anything.
Reality to Jesus was infinite good—it was what God, pure Mind, is ever knowing and beholding. Man is the perfect evidence, or reflection, of perfect Mind. This is the truth that sets us free. The Master's understanding of his oneness with God enabled him to prove over and over again that there is absolutely nothing mankind will ever need —no solution to any problem that could possibly confront anyone—that does not already exist in ever-present Mind. His method of healing revealed a demonstrable, ever-operative divine Principle—a God who is Love—a God who lights our way and thoroughly cares for us.
