Not long ago I walked the ruins of some of the seven cities mentioned in the first chapter of Revelation in the Bible. Here was a civilization with many gods—gods of the people's own making—and I thought of the challenge Paul, John, and other followers of Christ Jesus faced in enlightening the people about the one God. But it also occurred to me that the gods of mortal belief, in whatever form they may appear, have never been real or powerful—no more so than when Jesus proved the truth of being, the absolute supremacy of God, through his healing works.
Then the question came, "What is the relevance now of the messages to the seven churches in Revelation?" Although they were written nearly two thousand years ago, their wake-up call continues to be significant to the spiritually-minded. Revelation is ongoing to the Truth-seeker who combats impersonal resistance to spiritual receptivity in order to understand what Spirit, Mind, brings to light.
The Bible tells us, "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: that the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works." II Tim. 3:16, 17 And so, through seeking and listening for the spiritual significance of the Word, the messages are found to be in all times inspirational, relevant, and unlimited in unfoldment.
