Considering that I have been a Christian Scientist all of my life, this testimony is perhaps overdue.
When I was experiencing excruciating pains in my stomach and chest, over a period of some weeks, I prayed sporadically about the situation. But full healing did not come.
Well, "man's extremity is God's opportunity." I continued to be in considerable pain and stress even as I continued to go to work. Any desire to eat left me, and I began to lose weight. It was at this juncture that I realized I needed to give up my stubborn resolve to go to work in spite of the illness, and to take time to get a better understanding of God and my relation to Him. Then I asked for, and received, a month's leave of absence from my employer.
