This feature gives readers an opportunity to share with one another helpful approaches to their study of the Bible Lessons published in the Christian Science Quarterly, and how they put what they learn into practice in their lives. These Bible Lessons consist of references from the Bible and from Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy.
I have come to love the weekly Bible Lesson dearly, and I look to it to start my day. I am a patrol sergeant for an urban police department. My shift starts at 5:40 a.m., and I'm usually out of briefing a little after 6 a.m. It's usually quiet in the early morning, so the first thing I do is head over to a shopping center where there is a big store geared toward the construction industry. The construction workers come here very early to pick up their supplies for their jobs. Here is where I sit in my police car overlooking the parking lot and read my Lesson. While I'm doing so, I'm also providing a service, as the construction workers know that their trucks will be safe while they're shopping. ...
I love this time. I read the entire Bible Lesson, outlined in the Christian Science Quarterly, every day. At the start of the week, I consult Bible research guides to help my understanding of the ancient writings. The early morning is also the time when I pray for myself, my family, my fellow church members, and the Christian Science movement. I pray for my fellow police officers, the city I work for, and the world. Several times, while I've been sitting there reading and praying, customers from the store have come up to me and said how much they've appreciated my being there. If they only knew how much I've appreciated it!
