A lesson from a snowflake

From the February 1997 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Many years ago I had a very simple and interesting experience. It showed me the practicality of appreciating two qualities of God's nature as Soul: beauty and purity. Little did I realize at the time that this would lead to a wonderful unfoldment that would continue for decades.

The church of which I was a member at that time knew of my interest in The Christian Science Monitor. As a result, I was asked to act as chairman of a special committee to prepare and present an open meeting in support of this daily newspaper.

It took us six months of loving care to design this meeting. So you can understand how I felt when I woke on the morning of the event to find thick snow everywhere! It was so unexpected and out of season. And I thought at first that it could prevent many from attending the meeting.
